The waiting is the hard part
The public system gives you a scan at 12 weeks and another at 20. In between, there's nothing but time — and a head that won't stop doing the maths at 2am. Most of the mums who come to us for this are perfectly well. They're just tired of waiting to be told so.
The early weeks
From 8 weeks you can see the heartbeat; from 12 you can hear it. If you've lost a baby before, you already know how long the wait to the 12-week scan is. You don't have to do it alone.
The long gap
Between the 12 and 20 week scans — and again in the quiet stretch after — there's no routine check unless something goes wrong. A quick look in between is allowed to be just for you.
After a scare
You've been to the hospital, you've been told all is well, and your body believed it for about a day. Once you've been checked, coming back for another look is a completely reasonable thing to want.
